Introducing the Newest Official Member of Team Renegade

Screen Shot 2013 01 16 at 12.11.27 PM Introducing the Newest Official Member of Team RenegadeI told you we were going big and things were going to keep getting better in The Renegade Inner Circle. Well, I have another announcement today…

I couldn’t be more excited to introduce the newest member of the Inner Circle coaching team—my good friend, colleague and brother-from-another-mother, Sean Hyson.

Sean is a C.S.C.S. and has been the fitness editor at Men’s Fitness magazine for almost 10 years, and he’s now the training director for both MF and Muscle & Fitness.

He helped me edit my first big e-book back in 2006 and my book Fit To Fight, published by Avery. He’s become one of my most trusted friends in the industry, and his love of music and Seinfeld give him extra special standing around here.

I met Sean for the first time, he reminds me, in the summer of 2005 at a bar in New York City. “Scruffy Duffy’s,” he says it was. Alwyn Cosgrove, another coach and a mutual friend of ours, introduced us.

I had only known you a few minutes when you politely excused yourself from the table and made a phone call,” says Sean. “When you got back, I made the mistake of asking you what it was about. Do you remember what you said?”

Naturally, I didn’t. And, unfortunately, Sean reminded me.

“You told me that ‘There are these two girls down the shore who want to have a threesome with me. So I may leave early. I may not.’ You were so matter of fact about it. I knew that we were going to have to spend more time together.”

Well, in case anyone’s wondering, I did NOT leave to have the threesome that night, Sean and I hit it off, and the rest is history.

I started writing the popular Hard-Gainer column for Men’s Fitness that Sean edited, and it lasted for years.

BA Sean Introducing the Newest Official Member of Team RenegadeIn 2010, Sean ballsily underwent a 12-week transformation with me. His unwavering discipline allowed him to lose 35 pounds while getting his squat up to 405 for the first time. To gain that kind of strength while losing that much bodyfat is virtually unheard of. I couldn’t have been prouder of him.

When I lived in New Jersey, he would take a 90-minute train ride (each way) every Saturday to train with my clients and I. We had some epic wars and some great times.

Over the years I’ve shared everything I know about strength and fitness with Sean and he’s always been eager to learn and hungry for more. When we had lunch recently I had to sit back and smile as we discussed training and Sean displayed an understanding and grasp of the whole thing that few people ever come to.

After all his hard work I knew he was ready for what we had been discussing for many years. Sean is now at a level that I would put all of my trust in him with any coaching client and have the utmost confidence in his abilities.

That’s why I’m so happy and proud to introduce Sean as the newest member of The Renegade Inner Circle coaching team.

He’s got a lot of great information to share and will be a huge benefit to all of us.

Sean, great article on the comparison of the Renegade diet vs carb back loading. I chose renegade style. I am looking forward to the coaching through the muscle gain transformation contest!!
