I just bought the package myself. I like a lot of what I read there, though having read Jason and Zach Even-Esh's stuff already, a lot seems rehashed. I'm looking forward to asking my Ex. Physiology professors about the whole Type III fiber thing.

I also take a bit of issue with the insistence that meat, meat, and more meat have to be at the heart of a Lean Hybrid Diet. I don't have an aversion to eating lean meat once a day, but I also remember so many of the other health issues I had when I tried to eat in that fashion (perpetual stiffness, deteriorating skin, fried-looking hair - and my hair is VERY important to me! :-) ). I can't go back to that way of eating.

But I think there are still some valuable things to take from the training recommendations. And the 12 weeks of workouts they prescribe will be a nice way to jump back into training - been nursing some serious injuries that are 90% healed.

Ok, so I don't doubt the benefits of doing this type of training, it's the same basic principle as kettlebell training: full body movement with resistance. But I'm tired of all the hype about Type III muscle fibers. There is no such thing. (And if I'm wrong, I'll admit it, but I've gotta see a published study before I fall for this one.) I don't have any problem with the training, just wish these guys would stop promoting something that doesn't exist. Promote the results, but don't try to tell me you're creating a third type of muscle fiber or some "super muscle".

I think that hybrid style training goes right along with traditional weight training as a better alternative for cardio. I like to do this type of stuff with my soldiers for PT because we have all kinds of junk in our platoon office that can double as training equipment. For me it's my fun way of keeping lean, for them it's my sadistic way of making them ultimatly run faster. Good post man!

i agree the whole hybrid muscle thing just seems like a lot of hype, sure their methods work and all but i dont like the idea of the whole hybrid training or the hybrid type 3 muscle. this type of training seem to be like your renegade cardio, that combat core program and your fit to fight stuff too.

I bought some plate loading farmer's walk bars from eliteFTS last year. Best investment I have ever made, with respect to this kind of training. I also include medicine balls, sledge hammer, tires (you can get them for free from tire stores) and sandbags. I look for durable things that we can throw, slam, drop. Occasionally, we use hex dumbbells for throwing, keg style..etc. The only other thing we need is a wide open green space and that is pretty easy to find.

You are creating a hype here. Looks quite similar to the barbell complexes of Alywn Cosgrove and other sort of GPP. The fact is that traditional bodybuilder methods of strength + cardio do work and often they are much saver than doing highly technical lifts in a fatigued state.
